Hoya ciliata   Teijeman & Bin   1866

This Hoya comes from Mollukkerna. This Hoya belongs to the eriostemma section. It is difficult to get in bloom here in Sweden, because we don´t have  so much light here. We have a short summer in the part of Sweden where I live, we have no midnight sun. I am very proud have gotten this one to bloom. I was the first one to have flowers as an amateur both in Sweden and the whole Europe. It was in August 2000. 8 flowers open at the same time. It takes 2 hours to fully open. In 2001 ciliata bloomed with 100 flowers. The winter after ciliata was close to dying. Now it grows again. It is not  black color, looks more maroon (as dark as burgundy). The flower is big 4cm, very wet from the beginning. The whole plant has a lot of fine hair, even the peduncle and the buds but, not the flowers.

The leaves are smooth with hair, light green 4x9cm.

You can click here to see from small buds to flower.

A lot of people visit me (from all parts of Sweden) to see H.ciliata in blooming.
